Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, many people had to cancel important events, like weddings and birthday parties, to comply with the changing restrictions and public health guidelines. This 80th birthday party was scheduled to be held during what became the UK’s first COVID-19 lockdown and it therefore had to be cancelled. The first lockdown was the strictest in the UK. People were instructed to only leave their home to shop for basic necessities, for one form of exercise a day, for any medical need or to provide care, or for key workers to travel to and from work.
