Package leaflet for Pfizer Biontech COVID-19 vaccine, last revised March 2021
In December 2020, the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine began in the UK. It prioritised those most vulnerable to and at risk of COVID-19, like older adults and health care workers. Gradually, the vaccine was rolled out to other age groups. When people received their vaccine, they were also given a package leaflet, specific to the type of vaccine they were give. It contains important information like how the vaccine is given and potential side effects. After COVID-19 vaccinations, people were asked to wait for 15 minutes at the vaccination centre in case they had an allergic reaction. In this case, the time the waiting period ends has been written on the package leaflet.
Between December 2020 and November 2022, more than 50 million people in the UK have received both doses of a COVID-19 vaccine and including boosters more than 150 million doses of the different vaccines have been given in total.
