Booklet for Mayor of London and London Assembly Elections, May 2021

Guide to the Mayor of London and London Assembly Elections including list of candidates and electoral promises with COVID-19 information, published by Mary Harpley, the Greater London Returning Officer and printed by PSL Print Management Ltd, UK, 2021

This information booklet, sent to every Londoner eligible to vote in the 2021 Mayor of London and London Assembly Elections, reassures readers that ‘polling stations will be safe places to vote on 6 May.’ The London mayoral race was postponed from 2020 after officials said the COVID-19 pandemic would adversely affect campaigning and voting.

Londoners are instructed not to vote in person if they feel unwell (in these circumstances, they could apply for an emergency proxy vote up to 5pm on polling day), wear a face covering, use hand sanitiser, observe social distancing, and bring their own pen or pencil.

Mini-manifestos from mayoral candidates Piers Corbyn and Laurence Fox are among 17 featured in the booklet, each of whom paid £10,000 towards its cost as required by law. Fox and Corbyn campaigned on a platform of ending lockdowns but failed to secure enough votes to retain their deposits.
