Bicycle, Joni 24 model, made by Islabikes, 2022. Developed in collaboration with people from the Dwarf Sports Association UK for people with disproportionate dwarfism.
The Joni range of bicycles was developed by Islabikes in collaboration with the Dwarf Sports Association UK to meet the needs of dwarfs/people with disproportionate dwarfism. This Joni bike was owned by Steve Scott, one of the founders of the Dwarf Sports Association UK.
The bikes incorporate an ultra-low step through frame to give better foot clearance when getting on and off. The geometry of the frame gives the rider a comfortable, upright position which is also efficient for pedalling. The bikes have short-travel brakes which are easier to reach with smaller than average hands. The size of the handlebars and cranks are also designed to be comfortable and efficient for the different body proportions of people with disproportionate dwarfism.
