Hidden Disabilities card, with the wording 'My invisible disability means that I am unable to wear a face covering' and 'Please be mindful and respectful that I cannot put on or wear a face covering because of my invisible disability', designed by Tabbers Limited, part of Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Scheme, 2021

Some people such as those with disabilities or living with impairments or that may be distressed by using a face covering are exempt from wearing one. Face covering rules have changed over the course of the pandemic – sometimes being required, sometimes being a personal choice. The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Scheme developed an exemption card which people can choose to carry.

Launched at Gatwick airport in 2016, the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower is a symbol that people can choose to wear indicating that they may need additional assistance, space, or time.
