Lanyard from the Global Pandemic Preparedness Summit 2022

ID and access card on lanyard marked ‘100 Days Mission’ from the Global Pandemic Preparedness Summit, March 2022 belonging to Mario Christodoulou (CEPI).

Mario Christodoulou, Senior Communications and Advocacy Manger for Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) was part of the team to organise the 2022 Global Pandemic Preparedness Summit. Taking place on 7 to 8 March 2022 at the Science Museum, London, the Summit was an international gathering of key scientists, policymakers, industrialists, and philanthropists promoting the need for resources to be in place for the next time a pandemic hits. They united in the ambition to have safe, effective, and globally accessible vaccines against the next pandemic threat ready within the first 100 days of an outbreak. The Summit raised over $1.6 billion for their 100 Days Mission.

CEPI’s 100 Days Mission is focussing on creating a library of prototype vaccines that they can be rapidly developed against new pandemic threats. Global clinical trials networks with pre-established processes and protocols, will be established. AI and advanced data science hopes to speed identification of markers to provide an early indication of the efficacy of prototype vaccines. Global networks of vaccine manufacturers to quickly make top-quality, safe, and effective new vaccines will also be established. Development of global disease surveillance, early warning systems and sharing of viral sequences will also continue.
