Temporary closure poster from Bromley by Bow Centre, 2020
- Made:
- 2020 in Bromley-by-Bow
A3 ‘Temporary closure’ poster, partly in Bengali, announcing the temporary closure of the Bromley by Bow Centre due to the COVID-19 pandemic, 2020
When the first lockdown (March – June 2020) was announced, the Bromley by Bow Centre, like many other organisations, had to close. In order to limit the spread of the virus, physical access to their building and services was no longer possible. This sign shows how quickly they had to set up alternatives, like telephone appointments. The first lockdown was the strictest in the UK and people were only allowed to leave their homes for a very limited number of essential reasons.
The Bromley by Bow Centre is a charity and community organisation which provides a wide range of services. This includes three health centres, skill building courses and health and wellbeing activities. It takes a holistic approach and works with local people to design and deliver that are tailored to the local community.
