CoolAnt is a passive system combining high-tech design with traditional materials for low-carbon cooling. A steel frame holds locally made Indian terracotta components – seen here as pots and ‘leaflets’. Water cycles through the façade, wetting the terracotta. As warm outside air is drawn through the structure, its heat is absorbed by the wet terracotta. The cooled air flows out of the other side, cooling the building’s exterior or flowing in through a window.
