This air source heat pump by Swedish company NIBE was in 2022 their most representative model and was intended for the UK market. At around 1100mm in height and width, the 8 kilowatt (kW) 'S2125' model was relatively compact and was designed to work outside the home in temperatures as low as –25°C, whilst at the same time delivering temperatures up to 75°C.
Heat pumps play an important part in the decarbonisation of our energy systems in the move away from burning fossil fuels for domestic heating. Unlike traditional gas or oil boilers, electric heat pumps produce no carbon emissions at the point of use and if the electricity that supplies them is generated from low-carbon sources, such as wind or solar power, the carbon emissions associated with heating or cooling our homes can be drastically reduced.
