Hire bicycle and docking station, made by Beryl and used by Transport for Greater Manchester, 2021. From the Transport for Greater Manchester Bee Network bike hire scheme, launch of public trial 19 November 2021.
One of the public hire bikes run by Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) and powered by Beryl, this bike was acquired for the museum collection in November 2022, on the first anniversary of them going live. It was ridden for 15,684 minutes and was the most used bike in the scheme, travelling a total of 1,663km.
Users unlock a bike using the Beryl app on their smart phone. Once they’ve finished their ride, they return the bike to a station and relock it. The cycle hire scheme is part of the wider Bee Network, Greater Manchester's vision for an integrated transport system. It helps create seamless journeys by connecting people to public transport and makes cycling an affordable, convenient and quick way to get around.
