COVID-19 vaccination consent form for the attorney of a care home resident unable to consent for themselves, from the NHS, product code COV2020367 5 December 2020, UK, 2020
Care homes were hit particularly hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. As one of the most vulnerable groups, care home residents and staff were in the first priority groups to receive the COVID-19 vaccine when the rollout began in December 2020. Informed consent is an essential part of any medical procedure. However, for medical reasons, some care home residents may not have capacity to give consent for the vaccination themselves. Therefore, a range of different consent forms were produced to cover different situations like consent being given by the resident’s power of attorney.
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, huge amounts of public health information were produced and distributed in the UK. Most of this came from the UK Health Security Agency, which was known as Public Health England until April 2021. This public health information covered a vast range of topics and was frequently updated to reflect changing guidelines and research.
