Topographical model of West Burton 'A' power station, commissioned by the Central Electricity Generating Board, 1966-67.
West Burton was the first power station using the standard 500MW generating unit released for construction by the CEGB, and the first 2000MW power station constructed in the UK. This model shows the power station within its immediate surroundings, and as originally constructed. It gives a sense of the sheer scale of the plant, and acts as a benchmark for the technical alterations made during its working life, which kept the plant operational until March 2023.
