Fuel poverty kills thousands of people in the UK each winter. Defined as being unable to afford to heat a home to a safe level, fuel poverty impacts the health, wellbeing and attainment of those resident. For decades around 10% of UK households, millions of homes, have been affected by fuel poverty. After the largest ever increase in gas and electricity prices in April 2022, another 2.7 million homes have been pushed into fuel poverty, increasing the total to over 25% of UK households.

National Energy Action is a fuel poverty charity working across the UK. They provide guidance of how to save money on energy bills, where to find further support, as well as advocacy and research. It is in response to the current Energy Crisis that they have created a Winter Warmth Support Pack – it is the holistic pack that we are collecting. The pack includes items people would need in energy crisis: draft excluder strips, under door draft excluders, energy saving light bulbs, radiator reflector panels, soup and hot chocolate sachets, a vacuum flask, a hoodie, a windup torch. There is also a leaflet with energy saving advice and the details of an emergency telephone line.
