Medical letter detailing patient's treatment for Chronic myeloid leukaemia, 2021

Medical letter documenting the diagnosis and treatment of Doreen Eggleton from her first diganosis of Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia (CML) in November 1998, to her enrollment on the first UK clinical trial of Glivic (imatinib) trials in 2001, and documenting the gradual dose reduction of this drug in subsequent years to reduce side effects including swelling and abdominal pain, dated 2021.

This letter details the medical treatment Doreen Eggleton received whilst being treated for a blood cancer called Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia (CML) between 1998-2021. Doreen went on to become one of the patients participating in the first UK clinical trial of the targeted therapy Glivec (imatinib), a drug that was shown to improve the survival of patients with CML like Doreen. The letter shows that despite likely saving Doreen's life, the therapy still posed side effects, and was gradually reduced in dosage after a number of years.
