Doreen Eggleton was diagnosed with a blood cancer called Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia (CML) in 1998. Blood analysis to measure components in blood, is an important way to monitor the disease and show whether treatments are working or not. This paper print out of the blood test results Doreen received in 1999, shows that the information given to patients to understand what was happening with their condition was very technical including graphs and measurements. Doreen went on to become one of the patient's in the first UK clinical trial of the targeted therapy Glivec (imatinib) in 2001, a drug that was shown to improve the survival of patients with CML.
