Box of 8 Tassaway single use menstrual cups
- Made:
- 1971-1973 in California
Box of 8 Tassaway single use menstrual cups (4 cups remaining; 1 sealed), "Not a napkin - Not a tampon" "A new odor-free form of internal protection. Most women change only 1 or 2 times a day.", Tassette Inc., Beverly Hills, California, 1971-1973
In 1970, Tassette Inc., makers of the failed Tassette menstrual cup, launched a disposable version made of a non-absorbent elastomeric polymer. The product offered the benefits of a cup – fewer changes and reduced risk of infection – while addressing the perceived drawbacks that the company’s president, Robert Oreck, believed led to the failure of its predecessor: consumers were reluctant to wash and reuse the product, and those that weren’t had no reason to buy another one. Suspicions of fraud meant the Tassaway was short-lived, however, ceasing production in 1973.
