Tassaway single use menstrual cup in yellow plastic carrying case

One Tassaway single use menstrual cup in yellow plastic carrying case, Tassette Inc., Beverly Hills, California, 1971-1973

In 1970, Tassette Inc., makers of the failed Tassette menstrual cup, launched a disposable version made of a non-absorbent elastomeric polymer. The product offered the benefits of a cup – fewer changes and reduced risk of infection – while addressing the perceived drawbacks that the company’s president, Robert Oreck, believed led to the failure of its predecessor: consumers were reluctant to wash and reuse the product, and those that weren’t had no reason to buy another one. Suspicions of fraud meant the Tassaway was short-lived, however, ceasing production in 1973.
