Repurposed pressure cooker bioreactor, with pipework, for growing cultured meat
- Made:
- 07-2021 in Japan
A repurposed pressure cooker bioreactor, with pipework, which is used to house and grow the cells used for cultured meat. The body of the bioreactor is made from an inexpensive, stainless steel pressure cooker. Holes have been drilled into the pressure cooker from which a nutrient fluid would be fed to the cells – encouraging their duplication.
The Shojinmeat Project is a Japanese not for profit founded by tech entrepreneur Yuki Hanyu. It aims to improve access to cell-grown meat. The pressure cooker has been transformed into a bioreactor for growing cells.
