Adhesive markers
- Made:
- circa 2012 in Bath
Sheet of adhesive backed markers used on Maggie, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier during motion capture work carried out by the team at CAMERA.
In the mid 2010s, CAMERA embarked on a body of work to capture the movements of animals using motion capture technology. The CAMERA team made initial tests with pigs and horses using a marker based system. These initial tests were useful but had some drawbacks including the lack of a dedicated space in which to work and the size and application of the animals used.
These initial experiments led to the team focusing on a more manageable creature in a more controlled space. They embarked upon the creation of a data set of motion for various dog species and sizes to then make this information available to a wide range of potential users. Initial tests were carried out with Maggie, the Staffordshire bull terrier owned by the Head of Studio at CAMERA. An off the shelf dog suit was purchased (see object number 2024-470), and small ball-shaped markers were attached to the pivot points which the multiple cameras would pick up during the digital capture process. This is a sheet of additional markers to be attached if/when the original ones fell off the suit.
