Google Home Mini speaker, manufactured by Google in USA, 2017.

The Google Home Mini speaker was manufactured by Google and released in 2017. The Bluetooth smart speaker includes Google Assistant, Google's AI powered virtual assistant. This allows for users to interact with the speaker using voice recognition for tasks such as playing music and answering questions. The speaker was compatible with other Google smart home products and allowed users to control things such as smart lights and thermostats using the speaker. Google partnered with Spotify to run a promotion upon release where Spotify Premium subscribers could get a Google Home Mini for free. This promotion flooded the market with the product and allowed Google to gain back some market share from Amazon, who had released their own series of smart speakers several years earlier. The speaker was partly manufactured from recycled plastic bottles.
