More

Deep inside a mountain on a remote Arctic island in Norway lies the Svalbard Global Seed Vault. Over 1.2 million seed samples, like these, have been collected from national seed banks all over the world and are now stored in the vault. Its purpose is to protect our food supply from future threats such as climate change and conflict.

The vault maintains a temperature of −18°C (the same as a freezer), which makes warm clothing essential for those who work inside.
