One of thirteen microscope slides in wooden box, relating to human lice in trench fever work, by F. Martin Duncan, 1918-19. Slide H: '34. Dead Lice 16/8/18'.
The slide contains samples of dead lice, to investigate the transmission and incubation periods of B. quintana, the bacterium cause of Trench Fever. Findings like these were crucial in understanding and trying to prevent Trench Fever through improved sanitation and hygiene.
