Rolls-Royce first concept model of nuclear micro-reactor for Space applications.

NASA intends to establish a Moon base for astronauts, which will require power. This presents a challenge: solar panels cannot always be used because there are weeks of darkness on the Moon, and current nuclear power generators are too big to fit on a rocket. Engineers at Rolls-Royce designed this concept model, scaling down nuclear power technology so it can be safely launched and operated on the Moon.
