Wall mounted clock, spring driven fusee timepiece in a long case format, 8 day wall clock, assumed to be an original fixture to the Leeman Road Goods Station manufactured by Darling & Wood.

The interpretation that this clock is an original fixture is made in reference to the careful consideration of material evidence such as this at the station, however a number of factors point to it being contemporary with the working station. Firstly the clock is situated in such a way that the balustrade along the eaves of the space has been accommodated to modify this – it is unlikely that such modification of the historic fabric would have been undertaken by the NRM for the purposes of housing a museum piece when it could have been situated slightly lower. Most compelling, however, is that the clock has been there as long as some senior members of staff – since the NRM moved to LRGS.
