Oliver [...............] haemoglobinometer in case, by Allen and Hanburys, English
Haemoglobin is the chemical in the blood which carries oxygen and gives blood its red colour. A haemoglobinometer like this example assesses the amount of haemoglobin in the blood. It compares the patient’s sample to a colour chart representing various normal and depleted levels of haemoglobin. This is used to diagnose a medical condition such as anaemia, which manifests itself with a low red blood cell count or a low amount of haemoglobin. Other cells in the body can also contain haemoglobin, but this kit can only test the high levels in blood.
