One born-digital photographic image taken during the first national lockdown in response to COVID-19 (SARS-COV-2). The introduction of the emergency Covid timetable meant some of the Northern Fleet went into store. The Class 144 Fleet were withdrawn early as a result. A significant proportion of railway employees were designated as ‘key workers’ during the Covid 19 pandemic. During lockdowns, travel and work restrictions, many railway workers were exempted from rules that applied to the general public and continued to work on the railway.
