Auriscopes (shown on the right) examine body cavities such as the ear. They are used in conjunction with small plastic disposable specula. An opthalmoscope views the inner eye. These instruments were once only used by ear nose and throat specialists. However, sets such as these are now an essential part of the general practitioner’s equipment. They were made by German company Heine Optotechnik.
