"Clearblue One Step" home pregnancy test kit with urine sampler giving result in three minutes, made by Unipath Ltd, England 1988
Pregnancy was confirmed in only three minutes by the ‘Clearblue, One Step’ pregnancy test kit. The kit contains two tests. It measures levels of human chorionic gonadotrophin (HCG) in the urine. HCG is a hormone produced by the body during pregnancy. The urine sampler, which looks like a plastic pen, is held in the urine stream. It is then set aside for three minutes. The urine sampler contains chemicals which react with HCG. This causes a thin blue line to appear in the viewing window if the woman is pregnant. The test’s maker, Unipath Ltd, claimed it was 99% accurate.
