Variety packet of Jiffi condoms, containing one "Gold", one "Flavour"and one "Long Player" , with accompanying leaflets, by Jiffi Ltd., and packaged for Condom Vending, made in West Germany, 1987

Using condoms is one way to practice safe sex. They also reduce the risk of catching sexually transmitted infections (STIs) such as HIV, gonorrhea, syphilis and chlamydia. ‘Jiffs’ were aimed at the youth market. They were sold via vending machines in clubs and pubs. The flip-top cigarette packet is part of their ‘youth appeal’. The condoms were also intended to be adventurous and unconventional. All condoms sold in Britain must comply with the British Standard. This black and white packet of condoms replaced those sold in gold-coloured packets in the previous year. Condoms in the gold-coloured packets were not up to industry standard and leaked. They were withdrawn in spring 1987.
