Twelve "Tabloid" pleated compressed sanitary towels with attachment, size number 3, by Burroughs Wellcome and Co., 1910-1940
Disposable sanitary towels were introduced during the 1890s as an alternative to washable ones. Sanitary towels are used by women during their periods. These compressed examples, designed to save on space, were made by Burroughs, Wellcome & Co.
