West's Gas Improvement Co. Ltd

The company was founded in 1874 by John West and located at the Albion engineering works in Miles Platting, Manchester. The business became a private company in 1894 and was re-registered with Companies House in 1959. West's manufactured carbonising plant for the manufacture of town gas made from coal, as well as coal and coke handling machinery connected to town gas manufacture. In addition, West's manufactured other machinery, bunkers and general structural work connected to mechanical handling of coal, coke, ashes and other materials.
