Magnesium Elektron Ltd

Factory established at Clifton, Lancashire, to make magnesium metal and alloy components for the aircraft, motor and other industries. The company was associated with FA Hughes & Co. ICI held an interest in the company by 1937.

In 1950, Distillers Co acquired a majority interest in the business, and bought the remainder of the shares from ICI in the following year. In 1955, ownership changed again when the British Aluminium Co acquired a majority share.
