P. Frankenstein & Sons Ltd
Founded in 1854 by Philip Frankenstein. It was a textiles company which began to specialise in working with rubberised fabrics. The company began producing specialised safety flying and survival equipment in the 1940s.
In 1959, the company produced a prototype flying suit circulating liquid through pipes incorporated within clothing which was used by NASA in trials to develop the Apollo spacesuit.
P. Frankenstein was acquired by Slater, Walker Securities in 1970. It became part of Allied Polymer Group in 1971.
