Thomas Robinson & Son

Thomas Robinson & Sons started manufacturing wood cutting machinery in the early 19th century, continuing to do so until 1882. The company wanted to expand and as they were already equipped to build machinery they saw an opportunity to start manufacturing flour milling machinery. They started to do so in 1884 when they announced they could equip a complete flour mill.

The company continued to expand in the manufacturing of flour milling equipment until 1988 when they merged with Henry Simon, another producer of flour milling machinery to become Robinson Milling Systems Ltd. This business was acquired by the Satake corporation in 1991 and became known as Satake Robinson UK Ltd, later Satake UK Ltd. Satake became a UK Division in 1998 and together with ESM (UK) Ltd moved to newly acquired premises in Bredbury, from where the company still operates as Satake Europe Ltd.
