Jack, Alexander Christie
Scottish born Alexander Christie Jack completed his higher education in 1917. He continued his education at evening classes studying mathematics, science and engineering drawing. After this he went on to Heriot Watt College, Edinburgh where he took additional examinations in Mathematics, Heat Engines and Strength of Materials between 1919 and 1923.
While attending evening classes he was employed as an apprentice fitter at Brown Brothers & Co Ltd, Rosebank Iron Works, Edinburgh from 1918 until 1924. He then spent a further three years working as a draughtsman at William Beardmore & Co Ltd, Dalmuir. It is not known when he joined the A. V. Roe & Co Ltd where he was employed until he retired.
