Frank Harris was a College Apprentice with Metropolitan-Vickers Electrical Co Ltd from 1938 to 1947. After serving his apprenticeship he went on to become an employee of Metropolitan-Vickers Electrical Co Ltd, becoming Chief Engineer in the Large Steam Turbine Department, where he worked until he retired.
