Gordon Fox started working for the Metroploitan-Vickers Electrical Co Ltd in June 1943. After a 3-year probationary period, he enrolled as an apprentice in 1946, completing his training in 1950. During his time at the company he worked on assembling motor details and radar equipment, fitting and assembly of motor control equipment, testing heating elements, assisting on maintenance of power and lighting circuits, and erection and wiring of switchboards and cubicles.
