Mr Jolliffe expresses his delight that molecular biologists wish to use the SRF, and informs Professor Ashmore that he has made contact with his opposite number at the MRC regarding arrangements in this matter. Mr Jolliffe states that those from the medical field that desire to use the Facility should be encouraged to so. Letter sent from Mr. C. Jolliffe to Professor Ashmore
Letter concerning SRF financial estimates for the 1973-1974 period and Mr Jolliffe's problem with how Professor Ashmore has come about these figures, and wishes Professor Ashmore to elaborate further on his estimates. Letter from Mr. C. Jolliffe to Professor Ashmore
The letter states the position regarding financial authority for use of Science Board funds for the SRF, in relation to the purchasing of items and the awarding of grants. It also states how much the SRRC, the Physics Committee and the Science Board can each spend/allocate in these two areas. Letter from Mr. C. Jolliffe to Professor Ashmore
Mr Jolliffe informs Professor Ashmore that he has studied the papers for the DSR Committee and believes they will be very useful in showing how they might envisage the future of the Facility. He makes further comments under three headings: Finance, Programme, and Procedure. Letter from Mr. C. Jolliffe to Professor Ashmore
Mr Jolliffe, in response to Professor Ashmore's previous letter [YA2011.42/1/1/10], is sorry to have received it as he believes Professor Ashmore does not understand the relationship that is being successfully established between the Physics Committee and the SRRC. He states that the Physics Committee has given the SRRC responsiblity over the SRF programme, but retains financial authority over any spending. Mr Jolliffe is willing to meet Professor Ashmore if he wishes to discuss the matter further. Letter from Mr C. Jolliffe to Professor Ashmore
