Kendal Milne & Co Ltd

Kendal Milne and Company was a large department store on Deansgate, Manchester. It opened in 1836 when three employees of Watts' department store bought out the business and reopened it as Kendal, Milne and Faulkner.

In 1919, the store was purchased by Harrods, but continued to trade as Kendal Milne & Co. The present building on Deansgate was completed in 1939.

In 1959, the Harrods group was taken over by House of Fraser. The store continued to trade as Kendals until 2005, whereupon it was rebranded as House of Fraser Manchester. The Harrods group, along with Kendals, was taken over by House of Fraser in 1959.[1] The store continued trading as Kendals until 2005,[1] when, after extensive refurbishment, the store was renamed House of Fraser Manchester.
