Hale, Albert Cable 1845 - 1921

Albert Cable Hale was born in Adams Center, New York, and graduated from Rochester University in 1860. After a few years teaching he took up post-graduate work at the Columbia University of Mines and the universities of Paris, Berlin and Heidelberg. He graduated from the University of Heidelberg in 1880 with a PhD.

Upon his return to the USA he became president of the State School of Mines in Golden, Colorado. He only held this post for three years before resigning due to ill health, at which time he returned to Brooklyn. He then becamd a teacher of physics and chemistry in the Central Grammar School, before moving to the Boys High School, where he ultimately became head of the science department. For a number of years he was secretary of the Chemical Club of New York. He was also a member of the American Chemical Soceity and a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

Hale died on 24 April 1921.
