Commercial and private vehicle manufacturer incorporating much of the British-owned motor vehicle industry (including Jaguar, Rover, Land Rover and Mini); British Leyland Motor Corporation (BLMC) was formed in 1968 from the merger of Leyland Motor Corporatiopn and British Motor Holdings (BMH); part nationalised in 1975 leading to creation of holding company British Leyland Ltd (BL Ltd in 1979, latter BL plc); Jaguar Cars became independent once more in 1984, through a public sale of its shares; BL plc was renamed Rover Group in 1986.
