Gestetner Manufacturing Ltd

The Gestetner Cyclograph Company was established in London by David Gestetner in 1881. Gestetner was the inventor of the Gestetner stencil duplicator, the first piece of office equipment that allowed documents to be copied quickly and cheaply. The duplicator was a huge success and an international chain of branches selling them was established. The Gestetner Company expanded quickly during the first half of the twentieth century and acquired a number of other companies including Nashua, Rex Rotary, Hanimex and Savin. Eventually a holding company was set up called NRG (N for Nashuatec; R for Rex Rotary and G for Gestetner).

In 1996 the international Gestetner Company was acquired by the Ricoh company of Japan. The company was renamed NRG Group, and markets and services Ricoh products under its three main brand names, primarily in Europe, South Africa and the Middle East, but also through dealers throughout the world. The company is now one of the world's leading copier-printer producers, and is part of the Savin Corporation. In the UK and other parts of the world the company is part of the NRG Group.
