Walker Brothers (Wigan) Ltd of Pagefield Ironworks were mining engineers who also built air-compressing engines for shunting above and below ground in colleries. The company also built commercial vehicles under the name of "Pagefield". In 1949 the company became part of the Walmsley (Bury) Group Ltd a maker of pulp and paper machinery.
