The Radcliffe Infirmary

The Radcliffe Infirmary was a hospital in Oxford, England. It was founded as Oxford’s first hospital by English physician John Radcliffe (c 1652-1714) in 1770 and was closed in 2007. The hospital was the site of the first human trial of penicillin by Australian pharmacologist Howard Florey (1898-1968) in February 1941.
