Bird, Jonathan

Jonathan M. Bird is a consultant neuropsychiatrist based in Bristol, England. He was educated at Crypt School, Gloucester, before qualifying in medicine at the University of Bristol in 1973. He went on to pursue postgraduate research in psychiatry and neuropsychopharmacology at the University of Bristol and McMaster University, Ontario. In 1985, he became Clinical Lead in Neuropsychiatry at the Burden Neurological Institute, Bristol, an independent research unit specialising in the investigation and treatment of neurological, psychological, and psychiatric disorders. In 1989, he wrote a history of the Burden’s first fifty years with his colleague Ray Cooper, which was published in 1989.
