Diggle, Philip 1956

Philip Diggle is a Manchester-born abstract expressionist artist who worked with Buzzcocks on their record sleeve designs and produced art for Factory and the Haçienda. He studied Art History at the Chelsea School of Art. He is the brother of Buzzcocks guitarist Steve Diggle and was a close friend of Tony Wilson and other people involved with Factory Records and the Haçienda night club, Manchester.

Tony Wilson commissioned Philip Diggle to create paintings that hung in the Haçienda. He was a member of the Art Department for the film 24 Hour Party People for which he created replicas of the paintings. He is also featured in the film Luxury.

As well as being an artist, Philip Diggle taught art at Highbury Grove school.
