One file comprises of three bundles of printed materials, produced by Susie Ohlenschlager and others of Transport 2000, Dr John Adams, Greater London Council, Department of the Environment, Department of Transport, Cate Jockel, Commission of the European Communities, members of the Public Transport Campaign Group, and others, which discuss the Cities Before Roads campaign on urban traffic in London on north and south circular roads and evidence to the review of urban roads appraisal methods for presentation to the Standing Advisory Committee on Trunk Road Assessment (SACTRA) (1980-1988). Bundle one contains letters from Susie Ohlenschlager, Harley Sherlock, Cate Jockel, Southwark Council, Lewisham Council, and others, pamphlets, press notices produced by the Department of Transport, public meeting reports, public meeting notes, and other printed materials relating to the Cities Before Roads campaign and investigation of the impact of London circular roads and trunk roads. Bundle two contains bound and loose typed reports and evidence to the review of urban road appraisal methods for presentation to SACTRA and a 1985 seminar entitled 'Cities and roads' organised by Transport 2000 and funded by Greater London Council (GLC); reports produced by Greater London Council on the widening of the north circular road; and typed proof of evidence written by Dr John Adams for a public local inquiry on the north circular road from Hanger Lane to Harrow Road.
