Fast Product
Bob Last and Hilary Morrison established the independent record label Fast Product in Edinburgh in December 1977. The label is known for releasing the first records by a number of influential post-punk bands from the north of England. The first single on the label was ‘Never Been in a Riot’ by the Mekons, released on 20 January 1978. The final release was the ‘California Uber Alles’ single by Dead Kennedies in June 1979.
The label also released compilation albums known as ‘Ear Comics’ under the title Earcom. These compilations featured tracks by new bands. Earcom 2, released in October 1979, included tracks by Joy Division.
