Uncut

Publisher IPC launched British music magazine Uncut in May 1997. Its target audience was men aged 25 to 45 with an interest in music and film. Its founding editor, Allan Jones, developed the idea for the magazine as a result of his experience as editor of Melody Maker. Uncut was Jones’s response to Melody Maker’s drive to appeal to a younger audience.

Uncut provides long form features on classic albums, interviews with film directors, music and film news, and reviews of all major new album, film and DVD releases. Its music features focus on rock and alternative country. Jones writed a monthly column in which he recounts his experiences as a music journalist.

The magazine is known for giving away a CD every month.

In 2019, TI Media, successor to IPC, sold Uncut and its sister publication NME to Bandlab Technologies of Singapore.
