Birch Vale Printworks

Birch Vale Printworks at Birch Vale, Derbyshire, was the site of calico printing and silk printing from the 19th to the 20th century.

The first calico printing mill at Birch Vale is believed to be the printworks of John Yates, established in 1823. The calico printing company John Bennett & Sons occupied the site from around 1855. By 1899, the works were owned by the Calico Printers' Association, who continued production there until at least 1946, possibly later.
